From humble beginnings to endearing philanthropist, Jeff was a community leader. He graduated from the University of Oregon and pursued his career in railroading in Eugene, Oregon. He started his career with Southern Pacific and spent fifteen years with the company. He then worked with the McCloud River Railroad in 1987, and was promot
From humble beginnings to endearing philanthropist, Jeff was a community leader. He graduated from the University of Oregon and pursued his career in railroading in Eugene, Oregon. He started his career with Southern Pacific and spent fifteen years with the company. He then worked with the McCloud River Railroad in 1987, and was promoted to VP of Marketing and Administration in 1989, and then to President the same year. He envisioned of owning his own railroad company, and purchased the McCloud River Railroad in 1992, and named it the McCloud Railway Company. Jeff made a significant impact in the railroad industry. He served on the ASLRRA board of directors, the ASLRRA Legislative Policy Committee and the Strategic Review Committee.

It was Jeff's vision and his entrepreneurial spirit that were the driving forces which led to his success. He retired in 2010 and relocated to southern California. In the latter part of Jeff’s life, he required the special medical care of many physicians and nurses. He had deep gratitude for the care that each and every nurse provided

In the latter part of Jeff’s life, he required the special medical care of many physicians and nurses. He had deep gratitude for the care that each and every nurse provided to him. In his memory, the Jeff E. Forbis Foundation was established by his widow, Natalie N. Tran, and is dedicated to those who have chosen nursing as their way to serve others within their communities to MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND BE THE DIFFERENCE.
